A group of SQL statements placed together forms a Stored Procedure. A Stored Procedure is created as well as stored in a database. It accepts input parameters to ensure that a single procedure can be used by some clients using different input data over the network. There are several reasons why a stored procedure is in use. It allows modular programming, faster execution, can reduce network traffic, and also does provide better security to the stored data. If a stored procedure is modified the clients receive the updated stored procedure.
