AD is a directory service and a cetral repository for network objects uses LDAP for quering. centrally manages all network components. DNS domain naming service, piece of software installed on a machine that contans all the host and ip address of all servers in a domain, function is to resolve host names to ip address and ip address to hose names

dns means domain name service
which is an internet protocol
it will change ip adress 2 host name
port no. are 53&54
